The saxophone gets a rare Masters series spotlight with Michael Nyman’s riveting concerto Where the Bee Dances performed by young British sensation Jess Gillam. A new orchestration of Debussy’s early Symphony (Finale) receives its Canadian premiere, and Schubert’s Fourth Symphony “Tragic” adds a classical touch to a diverse program which also includes blue cathedral – one of the most-performed works by acclaimed American composer Jennifer Higdon. This unique and exciting evening is led by popular ESO guest conductor José-Luis Gomez.
