VSO – Let it Be

VSO - Let it be logo

The deadline for our second Virtual Scratch Orchestra project, Let it Be, has now passed. For news and information on when the video will be released and for upcoming projects, please sign up to Jess’ newsletter! Stay safe.

‘Let it Be’ is a song universally known and loved. To me, the message the song holds is very pertinent for the time we find ourselves in; it’s one of togetherness, positivity and love. Paul McCartney had a dream that his mother (Mary), who had sadly passed away, came to him to reassure him that everything was going to be ok and to ‘let it be’. His mum had been a nurse, so I hope that this project can express a deep gratitude to the NHS and all of those working tirelessly to keep us safe.

The VSO is open to anybody of any ability, any instrument. We have parts specifically designed for beginners and also parts for singers. You do not need to have been a part fo the first project to join. I really hope you may be able to join us!

How to join in

1) Take a look at all of the parts available below and find a part that suits you.

2) Download the part (this is a pdf).

3) Video yourself playing your part, either playing along to click track or to the pre-released version (links below, with headphones so we can just hear your part). You can use a video recorder, a smartphone or whatever you have available.
*Please note there are 8 clicks into bar one. Please play or sing any note on the fifth click. This is so that we can sync all of the parts together.*

4) Please label your video with your name and the part you played. For example, “JESS GILLAM, TROMBONE 2” or “JOE BLOGGS, BEGINNER FLUTE”.

5) Upload your video to www.virtualscratchorchestra.co.uk by 5pm BST on Wednesday 27 May.

6) Sign up to Jess’ mailing list to make sure you see the final results!

The finished video will be premiered on Saturday 6 June at 5pm BST on Jess’s YouTube channel. All audios will be used in the final video, however it may not be possible to include all video appearances.

The following files are PDFs. They will open in a new window or tab and can be downloaded to your desktop.
