Jess Gillam and her ensemble are guests at this year’s gala concert, at which stars of the music scene inspire with moderated »concept« programs that go beyond a classical concert structure and are not played in a »normal« concert hall. Not only does she master the saxophone with ravishing virtuosity, she is a real ambassador for her instrument. At the age of 17 she became the first saxophonist to win the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition; two years later she stirred up the prestigious Last Night of the Proms as the “undisputed highlight” (BBC). In every respect it is a musical experience.
